It's more akin to a good board game than those virtual stories we often refer to as the best of video games it's a mainstay, and Team 17 knows it. (If somehow your PC is 15 years old, Armageddon is still the choice because it's a decent chunk of the same fun and has incredibly low requirements.'Worms' is one of those franchises that, once infected into a gamer's preferences, remains steady so long as there's somebody else to play against. To me it's comfortably the definitive Worms game to get. It has Steam matchmaking and a public ladder mode if you want that and the usual home rules options to configure everything. Forts mode is back and plays well with the W.M.D. I much prefer that to the gimmicks of recent titles like the classes or the physics water which was a nice idea, but a bit too janky. W.M.D.'s main new feature is item crafting which works well and you can operate the crafting during other people's turns, it works smoothly and gives some more strategy. I prefer disabling them at game start and just allow rare vehicle drops during the match. The vehicles are good fun but there are too many in the default rules and they kind of overshadow the main worm weapons a bit. The new engine has a solid feel across the board and just about all previous weapons are in, with a couple of decent new ones as well. The rework of the engine regains some of the 2D pixel accuracy that Armageddon has, where I felt that was lacking in the titles the past few years. Yet it still feels like a classic Worms game. These are all small addition but add a lot of value to the gameplay. It introduces vehicles and turrets, as well as inside areas. WMD offers a completely different art style, which isn't bad. It also has a very simple but also intuitive map editor/creator. The physics are a bit changed though, so keep that in mind.

Its very polished, has some cool maps, and pleasing to look at. Check it out if you got time.įrom the modern ones, the best ones are Reloaded and WMD. You get two very cool single player campaigns (Worms 4 offers hands down, best campaign of the series), and 3D Worms are so different than 2D that it feels like a completely different experience. Its a compliation of Worms 3D and Worms 4 in one game. When it comes to 3D versions, play Ultimate Mayhem.

Armageddon recieved compatibility patches, while WWP did not. So eiter Armageddon or WWP should do fine for old school Worms fix. World Party is supposed to offer even more, but I never played it. While it is an awesome game, Armageddon is pretty much the same + more content.
